What does blacklist mean regarding IP, domain, and email?

When any email servers mark the domain, IP, or email as a potential source of spam or other malicious activity, they are listed in a DNSBL (Domain Name System Blacklist). The email server uses the blacklist to provide the user with precise security and to protect the user from getting unwanted emails or spam. The email server first checks whether the IP address, domain, or email address is listed in a blacklist soon after receiving the message.

If the sender's address is found to be listed in a blacklist the email is automatically discarded from sending or to reach the receiver's inbox. Or else the email is stored in the receiver's spam option.

What is DNSBL?

DNSBL stands for Domain Name System Blacklist, which particularly consists of the list of blacklisted IP addresses, domains, or email addresses. If the IP address or domain is listed in a blacklist, then the emails or messages for these sources are either listed on the spam of the receiver device or the message is completely blocked to be received by the receiver.

Moreover, the DNSBL is used by the email server to check whether the incoming email is generated or originated from the blacklisted IP address.

Why does any IP address or domain get on a blacklist? How to fix the problem?

If an IP address or domain is reported or consequently backlisted for sending spam emails, then it can be listed on a DNSBL. Any domain or website is listed on a blacklist if they upload inappropriate content including black market trade, pornographic content, or other sensitive content. #

To fix the problem you have to first know which services or blacklist providers have blacklisted your site so that you can request the server to remove your site from the list. You must sincerely follow the procedures of the service provider.
